Rapinoe relocated from Boca Raton Florida after spending several weeks with Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence. The forward scored two goals in only eight games, helping lead the magicJack to a third-place finish in the league during the season. MagicJack was disbanded near the close of 2011, while WPS went under in early 2012. Rapinoe played for a short time with Sydney Football Club FC (Australian W-League) in the year 2011, prior to returning home to United States. It was the Seattle Washington Sounders Women, currently Sound FC, were her next team. She was in France in 2013 during the football season. She was a member of Seattle Reign FC, now OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League NWSL which was created following the dissolution of WPS. Rapinoe was soon a top scoring player in the team and eventually was named captain. Two goals by Rapinoe's were a part of the 4-3 United States victory against Australia during the Olympics of 2020 held in Tokyo. Japan, however, was delayed to 2021 until the COVID-19 pandemic was over.
